Our work is all about helping people who don't have access to the surgery that we are lucky enough to take for granted. We perform as many operations as our funds and time will allow, completely transforming peoples quality of life.
Proact Medical has supplied OPSA with anaesthetic equipment for a number of years now. This year Proact generously donated a full container load of airway equipment which has recently been shipped across to Pakistan. Not all the equipment will be for use at the Bashir Hospital, but the logistics teams there will ensure that the equipment not needed there will be despatched to other NGOs where it will be put to good use. Proact Medical also announced this year that OPSA will be its chosen charity and will continue to support it in its charitable endeavours. Many thanks to Lauren Sharp, Philip Sharman, Lisa Tinto and rest of the team at Proact.
One business which we would like to mention is Britannia Movers International, whose directors, Andy Dickerson and Ian Storey, have supported out charity for many years. Britannia has stored equipment for the charity at no charge what-so-ever! Its staff have co-ordinated and managed the shipping of medical equipment overseas, all at cost price, and all with the professionalism for which Britannia has become famous.
MIAT (Midland International Aid) Donated £15,000 to PCLAPA (Pakistan Cleft Lip & Palate Association) towards the cost of the October 2011 camp and similar amount for Feb 2012 camp. Thank you especially Mohammad Aslam and Dr Rashid Gatrad for your continuing support
Spire Hull & East Riding Hospital. Thanks to, Judith and all the staff in the Pharmacy department for their help - often just the day before we leave for Pakistan, with our last-minute requests!
St Hugh’s Hospital, Grimsby.
St Hughs Hospital has helped and supported us over the last two years, particularly the Operating Department
Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson). Ethicon supplies OPSA with the suture (stitches) material for one of the trips each year, to the value of £1,000. It is crucial to the success of the surgery that we have suture material of this superior quality, but it is extremely expensive. This is a massive help to us.
Hull Trains
Hull Trains offered assistance in sponsoring the cost of travel arrangement for the surgical team. OPSA would like to take this opportunity of thanking David Townsend for his support and Hull Trains, a delightful Journey for all the team.
